I've been looking for a good and stylish programmable remote for my VDR setup. Idealy one with approximate the same buttons as the grey hauppauge remote (coloured buttons, arrow nav key layout menu and back key), but with the addition of programmable buttons for volume which can be used with an amplifier.

I've been using a Sony RM-VZ950T lately, and while it looks really good, the keys are not a 100% perfect match. http://www.thevooner.com/feature/2001/05/3...remote.htm'

Any good tips for a good programmable remote welcome..

I use the one-4-all remote. I've got the 6 in 1.
As weel as having pre set designs for tv, sat, dvd, amp, vcr and much more you can also customise and mix buttons or even make up new ones.
I set mine up as a CD player (as this had all the buttons except the 4 colour buttons) and then invented 4 new buttons for those. I also set it so that the volume control adjusted the tv while in this mode (they call that punch through)
I think they are very good. If this one goes wrong or I need more features I will by from the same company.

I can agree with you on your choice ed, i've been using those remotes for years and they are of a fantastic build quality, plus good support from oneforall.

I've got the 4-1 for digi cable/sat. its got sticky overlays for the bottom row of keys, i've got mine set up as a ntl/pace 4001 and it works brilliantly.
